The Wigwam Resort- “Where casual elegance meets historic charm.”

The Wigwam was originally built in 1918 as a gathering place for the Ohio-based executives of Goodyear Tire & Rubber who discovered the West Valley of Phoenix as a prime location to grow cotton for rubber production. As the retreat grew in popularity, additional accommodations and amenities were added and in 1929 The Wigwam opened as a full-service resort with accommodations for just 24 guests.

In its 86-year history, this Phoenix resort has hosted some of the world’s most recognized public figures and sports legends and maintains a reputation as one of the Southwest’s landmark resort destinations.

The Wigwam
300 Wigwam Boulevard,
Litchfield Park, Arizona 85340

Just 15 miles west of downtown Phoenix and a 30 minute drive from Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX).

The Wigwam’s three 18-hole championship golf courses offer a diversity that cannot be matched by any other Arizona resort. Here, the golf enthusiast has their pick of not just one or two courses, but three 18-hole courses – 54 holes of championship golf including two courses designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones, Sr. And, in true Wigwam style, each course – The Gold, Patriot and Heritage offers a unique challenge that adds spice and variety to one’s stay at this timeless and relaxing retreat. Designed to provide a pure golf experience, the Gold, Patriot and Heritage are true parkland courses that are woven in and around the natural terrain of trees, lakes, canals and streams.

wigwam gold
Designed by the master designer himself, the Gold course was created in 1964 to rival another of Robert Trent Jones Sr.’s courses, the famed South Course at Firestone Country Club. At more than 7,430 yards, this long and winding par-72 course will challenge even the finest of golfers, leaving them with club choices that will either reward or reprimand their decisions.

Monster 7,430 Yards 74.5 Rating / 135 Slope
Championship 6,830 Yards 72.3 Rating / 130 Slope
Club 6,348 Yards 70.0 Rating / 125 Slope
Forward 5,885 Yards 72.3 Rating / 119 Slope

Once known as the Blue course, The Patriot has been described as the “great contradiction” in that it behaves so very differently from front to backside. Also a Jones, Sr. creation, this 6,000 yard, par-70 course is known to be both technical and challenging yet subtle, as golfers must negotiate a number of perilous bunkers, thirsty ponds and challenging dog-leg fairways.

Jones 6,001 Yards 69.0 Rating / 123 Slope
Championship 5,199 Yards 65.6 Rating / 113 Slope
Club 4,791 Yards 66.6 Rating / 113 Slope
Forward 5,885 Yards 72.3 Rating / 119 Slope

A natural complement to The Gold and Patriot courses, The Heritage is nearly 6,900 yards and plays alongside an abundance of natural water features and lush trees. The par-72 layout has generous fairways and greens, yet its finishing stretch is as tough as any-a certain test for anyone.

Blue 6,852 Yards 71.9 Rating / 126 Slope
White 6,291 Yards 69.3 Rating / 118 Slope
Red 5,806 Yards 71.8 Rating / 118 Slope
